Terms and Conditions

Private, one-to-one Mandarin Chinese lessons delivered live online by Jingyao, an independent teacher. This website presents those lessons and lets you request a trial.

Lessons are a teaching service. No specific exam result, score, fluency level or timeframe is guaranteed, by anyone, ever — progress depends on your level, your practice and how often you attend.

Submitting a form on this website is a request, not a confirmed booking. A lesson exists once Jingyao has confirmed a specific date and time with you.

You are responsible for giving a working email address and for checking the time zone of your confirmed slot.

A 25-minute trial lesson is $15. A single 50-minute lesson is $30, and a package of eight 50-minute lessons is $225.

The price is shown on the booking page before you confirm, and payment is handled there. Whatever is shown at the moment you book is what applies.

Rescheduling, late cancellation, no-shows and lateness are set out in full on the Cancellation Policy page. The same terms appear on the booking page before you pay.

Please join on time, with a working microphone and a connection good enough to hold a conversation. Technical problems at your end that shorten a lesson cannot usually be recovered as extra time, though Jingyao will always be reasonable about it.

Lessons are a shared space and mutual respect is expected in both directions. Abusive behaviour ends a lesson immediately.

Do not record a lesson without asking first. If you want a recording to review your pronunciation, ask — it is usually fine, and Jingyao will simply want to know.

Notes, phrase lists, worksheets and downloadable resources are provided for your personal study. Please do not resell, republish or distribute them.

The text, design, artwork and code of this website belong to their respective owners. Jingyao's photographs, videos and educational content are used here with her authorisation.

Lessons are provided with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, liability is limited to the amount paid for the lesson or lessons affected, to the extent the law allows. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer.
